Ada County Youth Court has been in existence for over 13 years and has processed over 3,500 cases. This means that a
large number of Youth
have learned from the
experience, on both sides
of the fence.Every Thursday evening, as many as 30 High School and Junior High students are provided with the opportunity to participate in hearing and deciding 8 - 10 actual cases involving juvenile offenses.
Provides an opportunity for volunteers to be part of the solution for teen substance abuse issues.
Allows for the taxpayers to be relieved of the payment for Court proceedings that would otherwise have to be heard in Adult Court.
Provides an opportunity for the defendant to receive a powerful - but positive - message about why it is important that they respect the laws of their country.
Provides an opportunity for the defendant to earn the right to have the charges dismissed (not expunged) off their record unless a 2nd offense occurs within one calendar year.
Provides an alternative with a positive approach.
WHAT TO EXPECT

Please be prepared to fulfill all 4 aspects of youth court sentencing.
